Thinking about Beauty

“Unexpected intrusions of beauty. That is what life is.” – Saul Bellow.

But, no one ever tells you that these vivid disruptions are grueling. That the ouroboros, wheels, flags, petals, dust motes, textures, fabric, ink, powder, feather, paper, pigments, and ephemera, are taxing to the senses. The drawing out of the self, that responds, is an arduous experience. Beauty is exhausting.
